Ductia

The band was formed at the end of 1993 by the meeting between Massimo Giuntini, Stefano Santoni and

Carlo Gnocchini, three musicians with completely different backgrounds which have been able to find a very balanced

musical point of meeting. Ethnic and traditional instruments- like for example Massimo Giuntini's uilleann pipes, bouzouki,

bombardes and different flutes and whistles - play over airs, sounds, loops generated by keyboards or edited on a PC.

The "electro" element, which is another element particular of the sound of the band, joins the suggestions of the playing

of Massimo Giuntini, the immediate guitar of Stefano Santoni, the harmonic solutions of Carlo Gnocchini. The result of

all is an exploration of different musical and geographic areas, led by strong rhythms and the softness of Mediterranean

melodies as well, not avoiding elements of northern cultures.Past and present are melting between the different

combinations of the various elements, becoming an immaginary bridge between different spaces and times, real or not,

which is possibly defined as "world music".
